This fall’s Emily’s Hope fundraiser has begun!

The student government of Emily’s elementary school, Colin Powell Elementary School, voted on the issue facing Virginians that they would most like to support, and they selected fighting childhood hunger.

Did you know that 1 in 5 children in the United States goes hungry every day?  That means 15,000,000 American children, including 21,000 children right here in Fairfax County, do not have enough to eat, which impacts all areas of their lives.

Through a partnership with the James Mott Community Assistance Center in Fairfax County, every $10 raised will help provide enough food for a family for a week.  Decide how many families you can help us feed for a week, and then click to donate now.

The Emily’s Hope Board members will visit the Henderson Middle School in Richmond, Virginia in January to present a check to enhance their library.  Below are students thanking EH for the contributions.

Emily’s Hope Fundraiser/Dance was a great success!  Thank you to all that attended and contributed to our goal!

A wonderful evening full of fun and prizes helped contribute to the Emily’s Hope Library Projects!  The event was held Saturday, April 18, 2015  – 7 p.m. – 12 a.m. at the Vienna Moose Lodge – 9616 Courthouse Road,  Vienna, VA  22181.  See the Emily’s Hope Flyer.

Current Project:

Emily’s Hope has selected two schools to support by enhancing their library’s collection and resources.  In exchange for the funding, the expectation is that the library or expanded collection will be dedicated in memory of Emily Michael.

The schools that will receive funding are:

E. Wilson Morrison Elementary School in Front Royal, Virginia

Nottoway Middle School in Crewe, Virginia

Emily’s Hope is dedicated to the memory of Emily Michael, and to fulfilling her promise and potential. We are committed to making the lives of children better in small and large ways.
