Emily’s Hope will fundraise through a variety of methods and ways.  We hold fundraisers at area businesses that are supportive and willing to donate a portion of the proceeds of the event to Emily’s Hope.  This can range from local supermarkets, such as Whole Foods, to local restaurants, like Silver Diner and Tropical Smoothie.  Partners can also include smaller home based businesses, such as Pampered Chef and Silpada consultants.  We also partner with local schools and businesses to fundraise on a more grass roots level.  These can include schools Emily attended, and those in her community, along with any schools looking for a service learning piece to add meaning to their instruction.   We also partner with other similarly minded non-profits to stretch our reach and raise our profile.

As for where we will donate the money we raise, Emily’s Hope will be entirely focused on making children’s lives better.  Our first project was building a new and more enhanced school room for an orphanage in Malawi.  Read below for the project that we are currently raising funds.

Current Project:

This fall’s Emily’s Hope fundraiser has begun!  The student government of Emily’s elementary school, Colin Powell Elementary School, voted on the issue facing Virginians that they would most like to support, and they selected fighting childhood hunger.

Did you know that 1 in 5 children in the United States goes hungry every day?  That means 15,000,000 American children, including 21,000 children right here in Fairfax County, do not have enough to eat, which impacts all areas of their lives.

Through a partnership with the James Mott Community Assistance Center in Fairfax County, every $10 raised will help provide enough food for a family for a week.  Decide how many families you can help us feed for a week, and then click to donate now.

Emily’s Hope is dedicated to the memory of Emily Michael, and to fulfilling her promise and potential. We are committed to making the lives of children better in small and large ways.
